If it's repetitive, it should be automated. If it's broken, it should be fixed. If it's Dream Theater, it should be on repeat.
Hello there!
I'm Daniyal, a software engineer who gets unreasonably excited about turning chaotic, "this-shouldn't-work" problems into clean systems that just work. Backend architectures, data pipelines, ML models, AI agents -- if it's complex and slightly terrifying, I'm probably already halfway through building it.
I've been a founding engineer at a startup (yes, the "we have 5 people and no sleep" kind), led engineering at a logistics platform sending shipping updates to customers of Walmart, Nike, Reebok, and many more at serious scale, built AI-powered auto-grading that actually works, and contributed to open-source through the Wikimedia Foundation and the Django Software Foundation. Currently doing my M.S. in Computer Science at the University of Florida, spending most of my time thinking about how AI is reshaping the way we build and interact with software.
When I'm not shipping code, I'm playing piano (Trinity Grade 3), shredding guitar, or arguing about whether Dream Theater's Metropolis Pt. 2 is the greatest prog metal album ever made. Former rock band member. Current Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, and Sleep Token enthusiast. Also a massive Damien Rice and Alter Bridge fan.
I play football too, having represented my school and college teams. Tennis, badminton, table tennis, and cricket are other regulars.
Software Engineer · Delhi, India
Led the notification module at ClickPost, sending shipping updates to customers like Walmart, Nike, Reebok, and many others at serious scale. Pushed AI adoption inside the team by building LangChain-powered ticket resolution and a knowledge base that actually let non-technical people understand how the system worked.
Software Engineer · Remote, Austin TX
Founding backend engineer at a 5-person startup, building the entire backend from scratch. Migrated things to AWS, set up CI/CD pipelines, and shipped payment and subscription flows. Also built an ML-powered product categorization system and an AI-driven storefront generator that personalized themes based on user behavior.
Software Development Engineer · Noida, India
Joined and quickly took ownership of 7 microservices handling appointments, video calls, and medication reminders. Also built internal Python tooling, including an S3 CDN plugin that got picked up by teams across the company.
M.S. Computer Science
Aug 2024 - May 2026
GPA: 3.96 / 4.0
Graduate Assistant for Data Science and Data Engineering courses. Research in Knowledge Bases and RAG-based context engineering.
B.Tech. Computer Engineering
Aug 2017 - Jun 2021
GPA: 9.44 / 10
Played for school and college football teams. Started getting into open-source here.
An interactive online Data Science course built with Jupyter Book, combining narrative explanations with executable code. Includes browser-based persistence and custom auto-grading that doesn't expose solutions.
An AI-powered browser extension that protects infant brain development by detecting, modifying, and filtering harmful digital content in real time across video platforms like YouTube.
A Chrome extension that brings AI-powered writing assistance directly into your browser, helping you write better wherever you type.
Contributed a Redis caching backend to Django as part of GSoC, extending the framework's built-in caching infrastructure.
Selected as an Outreachy intern at the Wikimedia Foundation, contributing to open-source tools used by the global Wikimedia community.
Returned as an Outreachy mentor at the Wikimedia Foundation, guiding new contributors through open-source development and the Wikimedia ecosystem.
Because life's too short to only talk about microservices.
Trinity Grade 3 pianist, guitar player, former rock band member, and occasional Indian instruments dabbler. Living somewhere between Dream Theater's insane time signatures and Damien Rice's heartbreak. Current rotation: Slipknot, Sleep Token, Avenged Sevenfold, Alter Bridge, Corey Taylor. Here's the Spotify playlist if you dare.
Football first, always. FC Barcelona supporter. Messi or nothing. Played for my school and college teams. Also tennis, badminton, table tennis, and cricket, because apparently one sport is never enough.
I write about engineering challenges, data science, and things I learn along the way.
